Smiles Foundation

Our Programs

As we raise funds to build more permanent clinics, we currently leverage portable units and mobile clinics to serve people in remote areas.

CLINICS / DENTAL CARE

Mobile Operations

Mobile clinics bring a spectrum of programs to remote rural areas and under-serviced urban communities, including quality dental services and health promotion activities. They are used to deliver basic dental care in the poorest areas of the country, where the majority of the population has never seen a dentist before and families of 5-8 members share one toothbrush.

Permanent Clinics

Strategically located clinics with 4 to 12 dental chairs in each, offer free dental care to children,
affordable dental care to adults and free primary health education to the communities.

EDUCATION / SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

Oral Health Education & Supplies

Our dentists and health educators teach the community about proper brushing and flossing, encouraging patients to practice these skills on-site. Patients of all ages receive Smiles Foundation brochures and kits with toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste for ongoing oral health.

Primary Health Education

Our team educates the communities about:

  • environmental protection
  • prevention of domestic violence
  • bullying
  • children’s rights
  • STIs prevention
  • nutrition and other topics that emerge from the communities’ needs.
Dental Auxiliary Program

The goal of this program is to encourage and train youth to become dental auxiliaries, by providing technical and practical classes, teaching the best dental assisting practices, to gain the opportunity to be employed by “Sonrisas” clinics or elsewhere in private practice. This will further promote our mission and continue impacting lives by offering the new generation an opportunity to do social good while securing a job.

Dental Lab Technician Program

This initiative addresses the critical need for skilled dental technicians in the country, enhancing dental care services and employment opportunities.
